Customer Experience and Digital Technology?

The purpose of Customer Experience and Digital Technology is to design, build and maintain products, services and experiences that Australian's love and trust, while delivering a sustainable future for Australia Post. The key areas that Customer Experience and Digital Technology is responsible for include Customer Experience, Customer Services, Decipha, Identity and Financial Services, Digital Channels, Data Science, Data Commercialisation, Product Engineering and Platforms, as well as Technology.

What does the role involve?

This role will ensure that the strategic promise for Identity Payments and Financial Services’ (iP&FS) is delivered through a disciplined and consistent approach.  This role will ensure that the “right” work program is in place with the appropriate Governance structure overseeing progress.  Further this role will manage the delivery of these key initiatives and take responsibility for sourcing the “right” resources are engaged across iP&FS to deliver these initiatives.

In addition to establishing an approved work program this role will provide leadership and direction in support to business areas for the journey from ideation through to delivery approval across iP&FS.  This will require engagement across multiple Business Units of Australia Post to ensure all relevant experts are engaged and stakeholders are informed and committed to delivery of iP&FS’s strategic goals.

In addition this role will adopt Enterprise criteria for initiative characterisation of Investment, Compliance (ALM) and BAU work streams and work with the iP&FS leadership team to ensure funding considerations are in place to ensure the intended program of work is clearly understood and funded (currently ~$20m per annum).  This role will be responsible for monitoring and maintaining a comprehensive work plan across all investment categories and will report regularly to the appropriate Governance forums as an escalation point and provide informed commentary of progress against delivery. 

This position will be responsible for ensuring that the iP&FS funding pool is effectively managed and delivering the greatest benefit to iP&FS.  This will involve facilitating budget preparation, monitoring and adjustment across iP&FS whilst maintaining alignment with Finance to ensure we meet the investment plans of the Enterprise.

Major Accountabilities: 

Delivery and Execution: 

  • Leading the development and taking ownership of the execution of all approved investment initiatives.
  • Development and maintenance of the portfolio roadmap
  • Ensuring that all investments are appropriately funded and that a clear delivery profile accompanies all initiatives.
  • Accountability for the delivery of the portfolio roadmap including delivery of key initiatives that relate to the program.
  • Delivery of new product and service initiatives with the appropriate change management and transition to BAU plans in place and completed.

Financial (e.g budget expenditure, revenue, lending authority, profit targets etc.)

  • Define and manage the overall investment requirements for iP&FS (pool in excess of $20m pa.)
  • Manage the initiative pipelines within allocated budget and forward planning to adjust to meet the changing needs of the business/ priorities within the pipeline of activities.
  • Ensure all product development and enhancements meet the customer and business expectations that will help deliver the required revenue and or cost out aspirations. 

People, safety and community:

  • Manage project resource pool to support the delivery of the overall iP&FS program and ongoing needs of the business from a new product and service perspective.
  • Provide leadership across the organisation and navigate competing stakeholder priorities to place the customer at the forefront of decision making and drive accountability. 

Required Experience:

Industry and Function: 

  • Proven experience in product innovation, commercialisation, product lifecycle management and systems development lifecycle management.
  • An understanding of Financial Services and experience / involvement in developing ‘leading edge' commercially sound customer/product strategies.
  • Strong track record in developing and implementing strategies, plans and major work programs.
  • Strong track record of delivering against a product road map and realising the forecasted benefits.

Market and Environment: 

  • Product design, development and implementation (B2B and/or B2C)
  • Product planning including knowledge of industry, market trends and competitive landscape
  • Deep understanding of the product levers that drive profitability and cost structure
  • Developing innovative customer solutions with involvement from conceptualisation through to delivery.
