Product and Innovation?

The purpose of Product & Innovation is to create products that people love and trust, while delivering a sustainable future for Australia Post. The business unit is responsible for managing and transforming our enterprise products, innovation and digital capability. The  five key product areas that Product & Innovation is responsible for include Parcel and Express Services, International Products & Services, Mail Services & Decipha, Identity Products & Services and Payments & Financial Services with Portfolio Strategy, Innovation and Engineering providing technical expertise across these portfolios.

What does the role involve?

The Commercial Optimisation Manager is to lead the business and commercial performance of Fulfilio Australia Post’s Fulfilio (the eCommerce fulfilment 3PL business of Australia Post.

This is a hands-on role within the Commercial (Pricing & Yield) function of Fulfilio with a focus on driving the commercial performance and outcomes of the business and leading the billing function into a future state.

At a business level the role is responsible for – leading billing and data management function, development of future state of billing and data management function, change management across operational and commercial functions, data management and monthly reporting.

At a customer level the role is responsible for – reporting, reviewing and monitoring contracted service levels for volume, cost, profitability and service levels, driving opportunities for productivity improvements or pricing/ volume changes for customer optimisation, contract and change management and supporting wider pricing programs such as APR. 

What will you be doing in the role?

  • Identify and lead strategic commercial projects that enable the growth of the fulfilment business
  • Identify the future state of the billing and data management function of Fulfilio and leading the business into this future state (medium term).
  • Champion the commercial and market impact of new and existing products and engage with key stakeholders to maximise each product’s success in its target market.
  • ide leadership across the matrix organisation and navigate competing stakeholder priorities always advocating and constructively agitating to place the customer at the forefront of decision making and drive accountability. 
  • Reporting (via Tableau and Excel) on commercial performance for each customer – financial, operational and other KPI's.
  • Development and management of Customer profitability reporting and optimisation. 
  • Regularly review and manage the financial viability and risk position of customers and 3PL sites looking for opportunities to manage and improve yield, customer service and new solution / product innovation. 

Required prior experience: 

  • Demonstrated experience in developing, leading and executing upon commercial activities. Including driving customer profitability improvements, managing complex and large data sources, data preparation (experience with Alteryx preferable), BI reporting (preferably Tableau).
  • Demonstrated experience building strong cross functional working relationships within a matrix environment.
  • Experience across commercial, data management, product management, operations, channel management and marketing to understand end to end value chain. 
  • Proven experience / involvement in developing ‘leading edge' commercially sound strategies and the change management required. 
  • Basic accounting and billing process understanding. 
  • Knowledge of the global freight, transport, logistics and supply chain industry typically e.g. minimum of 7 years in a senior position. 
  • Strategic planning including knowledge of industry, market trends and competitive landscape.
