Product and Innovation?

The purpose of Product & Innovation is to create products that people love and trust, while delivering a sustainable future for Australia Post. The business unit is responsible for managing and transforming our enterprise products, innovation and digital capability. The  five key product areas that Product & Innovation is responsible for include Parcel and Express Services, International Products & Services, Mail Services & Decipha, Identity Products & Services and Payments & Financial Services with Portfolio Strategy, Innovation and Engineering providing technical expertise across these portfolios.

What does the role involve?

The Senior Business Analyst is based in the Identity, Payments and Financial Services (IP&FS) group and responsible for providing business analytics services and deliverables to support the delivery of IP&FS initiatives that enable business groups to meet strategic goals related to the IP&FS portfolio. The position reports to the Head of Pricing & Insights

The Senior Business Analyst role supports business oversight of the end to end processes through data mining, interpretive analysis, and cross functional liaison. The purpose of this position is to support the IP&FS group in providing analytical and insight services to enable informed business decisions which will drive commercial outcomes for the portfolio.  The role is responsible for providing actionable business insights for the Product portfolios to support the strategic objectives of IP&FS.

This includes providing business intelligence and performance analytics of the IP&FS Products portfolio on a weekly, monthly, quarterly and ad-hoc basis to internal and external stakeholders.

What will I be doing in this role?

  • Operate proactively with service areas as directed by Head of Pricing & Insights to analyse and understand business problems and opportunities in context of requirements and recommend Solutions
  • Assist in building detailed financial models including pricing and commercial modelling.
  • Proactively monitor, evaluate and provide strategic advice on value proposition and business insights across the IP&FS portfolio. 
  • Provide analytical support to inform our position in commercial negotiations.
  • Support the delivery of data initiatives to ensure the provision of meaningful business insights
  • Develop and publish dashboard reporting for the IP&FS portfolio and provide insight on process effectiveness and the identification of process waste and opportunities for improvement.
  • Conduct market analyses, analysing both products and the overall profitability of the portfolio. 

Required Experience:

  • Has proven experience and demonstrated successful delivery of analytical initiatives from conception to implementation and realisation of tangible benefits
  • Extensive experience of key market drivers, industry players and latest developments within Identity, Payments, Financial Services, Utilities, Telco industries
  • Extensive industry intelligence, financial, economic and market data to influence the product strategies, product requirements and customer
  • Proven stakeholder engagement skills including proven effective communication at all levels in matrix organisation structures
  • Has significant experience within Identity, Payments, Financial Services, Utilities, Telco industries including extensive knowledge of key market drivers, competitor intelligence and domestic and overseas trends as related to the IP&FS portfolio of products and services.
