Product and Innovation?

The purpose of Product & Innovation is to create products that people love and trust, while delivering a sustainable future for Australia Post. The business unit is responsible for managing and transforming our enterprise products, innovation and digital capability. The  five key product areas that Product & Innovation is responsible for include Parcel and Express Services, International Products & Services, Mail Services & Decipha, Identity Products & Services and Payments & Financial Services with Portfolio Strategy, Innovation and Engineering providing technical expertise across these portfolios.

What does the role involve?

The Senior Pricing Analyst is based in the Identity, Payments and Financial Services (IP&FS) group and responsible for all Pricing initiatives related to the IP&FS portfolio.  The position reports to the Head of Pricing & Insights.

The purpose of this position is to support the IP&FS group in developing and managing pricing strategies by enabling informed business decisions which will drive commercial outcomes for the portfolio.  The role is responsible for providing actionable business insights & pricing strategies for the Product portfolios to support the strategic objectives of IP&FS.

This includes providing business intelligence and performance analytics around pricing performance of the IP&FS Products portfolio.  The role is also instrumental in foreseeing future trends in the industry (and the corresponding value chain), considering market and customer trends both locally and internationally.

What will I be responsible for?

Commercial & Strategy

  • Support the design and development of the pricing strategy to support pricing and commercial requirements, including our partners, which optimise the profitability (volume, pricing and cost) performance of the IP&FS portfolio.
  • Build detailed costing and pricing models to support complex / customised pricing solutions.
  • Proactively monitor, evaluate and provide strategic advice on competitor pricing, value proposition and business insights.
  • Provide analytical support to inform our position in commercial pricing and negotiations. 
  • Maintain pricing policy and procedures that provides pricing governance that is consistent with Australia Post corporate governance requirements.

Financial / Budgeting

  • Support the delivery of pricing initiatives to meet corporate objectives on profitable revenue growth. 
  • Manage IP&FS pricing models. 
  • Utilise financial analysis to demonstrate P&L impact of new and existing product initiatives. 


Essential Experience Required: 

  • Has proven experience and demonstrated successful delivery of pricing projects from conception to implementation and realisation of tangible benefits.
  • Extensive experience of key market drivers, industry players and latest developments within Identity, Payments, Financial Services, Utilities, Telco industries
  • Extensive industry intelligence, financial, economic and market data to influence the product strategies, product requirements and customer needs.
  • Translating complex data into business opportunities. 
  • Has significant experience within Identity, Payments, Financial Services, Utilities, Telco industries including extensive knowledge of key market drivers, competitor intelligence and domestic and overseas trends as related to the IP&FS portfolio of products and services.
  • Has demonstrated knowledge of key pricing processes and analytical skills required to perform in the role. 
  • Experience utilising Tableau.
