What does the role involve?

The Senior Tax Consultant reports into the Tax Consulting Manager and takes a lead role in:-

  • providing technical interpretations and advice to Taxation Group Management in relation to new or existing business activities and transactions
  • supporting Business Units to understand opportunities for efficiency and improvement in business processes and requirements
  • supporting the Australia Post Group’s day-to-day operational tax activities, including internal and external compliance and reporting obligations
  • maintaining collaborative and trusted relationships with tax and regulatory authorities, external auditors and professional service providers
  • supporting Tax Group management in establishing a service-focused tax consulting and advisory unit which provides valued advice and thought leadership

 

You’ll also make a key contribution to the Australia Post Taxation Group’s ability to:

  • satisfy ongoing tax compliance and financial reporting obligations;
  • provide valued advisory services in relation to an increasingly complex tax landscape;
  • generate and sustain tax savings
  • satisfy increased external reporting requirements and to ensure Australia Post continues to be a trusted taxpayer 

 

What are we looking for?

  • At least 5 years of tax experience either as a professional adviser or in a corporate environment
  • Understanding of complex business environments and engagement with non-tax staff
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with key stakeholders, drive efficiency through process improvement and deliver value through the optimisation of tax processes in conjunction with the business
  • Bachelor Degree in Law, Commerce, or related disciplines with a significant level of tax-related training
  • Membership of business/accounting body (CA, CPA, Tax Institute and/or Law Institute)
