What does the role involve?

Based in Melbourne, the Head of Network Planning & Design is responsible for ensuring a strategic and coordinated approach is taken to Network Planning, including maintaining the Network masterplan. The role is responsible for setting out the 3-5 year plan for our growing and complex national network, maintaining and analysing long term Network volume data and forecasting future needs. On a daily basis this role will see you:

  • Lead a team of planners and analysts and provide strategic direction to design and deliver the Network masterplan for the Group Chief Operating Office (GCOO)
  • Define and develop the Network Planning and Design strategic plan in line with the overall Network operations strategy and GCOO strategic priorities
  • Undertake data analysis and lead short and long term forecasting processes on behalf of GCOO operations
  • Engage and Collaborate with senior leaders (Processing, Last Mile, Transport, StarTrack) to develop future capacity plans
  • Coordinate the development and achievement of the Peak Plan, ensuring it meets operational needs within a budget framework and delivers service performance objectives

What experience will you have?

We’re looking for candidates who are strategic thinkers, with a keen eye to identify continuous improvement opportunities within our network and with experience in change management. In addition to this, you will ideally have;

  • Strong operational background in large scale logistics, transport or production environments operating across multiple locations
  • Experience in designing and managing complex (operational and capability) solutions involving multiple stakeholders
  • Ability to build relationships and influence decisions at senior level including Finance, Risk and Operations
  • Proven track record in project and program management
  • Ideally, degree qualification in a field such as engineering, operational logistics, statistics or data analytics, OR significant industry experience
  • Ideally an accreditation in Six Sigma at black belt level
