About the role

The safety advice and support this role provides will empower managers to make decisions that will reduce the exposure of safety incidents, as well being the first point of contact for managers in relation to safety technical advice.

Safety Advisors will empower managers to take ownership of safety outcomes by providing technical safety advice and support without ‘over servicing’ and performing the safety activities managers are accountable for delivering. 


Day-to-day, you will:

  • Provide expert safety advice and support on a wide range of safety processes and practices at a local level
  • Perform risk assessments of local processes and systems e.g. Local Traffic Management Plans
  • Localise Enterprise risk assessments and Safety Instructions to ensure applicability to the Network environment
  • Advise and support managers during the various safety audits conducted, including OHSMS QA Compliance audits, Chain of Responsibility and Dangerous Goods audits.
  • Review and coach managers in their incident reporting and investigation activities.
  • Review and support managers in incident analysis and incident reduction activities
  • Develop and maintain a strong knowledge of the workforce, including good working relationships with key stakeholders, current strategy and safety metrics
  • Promote safety awareness and encouraging application of the new initiatives at the local level.


What are we looking for?

You will have a strong knowledge of relevant Safety legislation, policies and processes and have experience in how to practically apply this knowledge.  You will demonstrate strong communication skills that will engage our business leaders and support them to successfully implement all new safety initiatives/programs
